"...a big market correction is not a pretty thing."
This is what bothers me about people who treat capitalism as if it were a deity, and most capitalists do.
That "market correction" is a nice, sterile way of summing up the core, recurring flaw of a model that cannot live unless it is in a constant state of growth. Capitalism must be in a constant state of growth, or it fails. And it fails repeatedly.
What you call a "market correction" is in fact hunger. It is poverty. It is homelessness. It is rampant unemployment. It is pain. It is suffering. It is about real people enduring real hardship that, more often than not, was beyond their control.
Please, never, ever say "market correction" without putting a human face on just exactly what that means.
But what I said does apply to the Democrats as a whole.
There is a passive-aggressiveness about the Democratic party against its left flank that is just unbearable at times.
Again and again, they want the left of their party, which I consider the vanguard, and which they treat like the rear-guard, to just shut up and do what they're told.
I'm a big Grayson fan, and a Kucinich fan, and somehow or another we need to figure out how to put those guys at the top of the heap instead of people like Pelosi and Reid who always talk a tough fight, but bend over backwards not to offend anyone.

There are a lot of gay people who would do just fine on the firing line, but there are a lot of others who excel at getting things done behind that line.
This general is an example of bigotry, and nothing more.
Well "You either believe in all of the people's rights or none of them."
Did the professor have rights? Is he or she the only person in that college who can teach French?
And I have a BIG problem with her beliefs, but not with her necessarily.
I object to the subjugation of women, and I'm not going to apologize for that.

In reply to this comment by burdturgler: You either believe in all of the people's rights or none of them. Rougy, you're a hypocrite and a bigot as far as I'm concerned. You either hate religion or you hate Muslims. This hatred has blinded you to the truth. That all people have the right to practice their faith (or lack thereof) freely and peacefully, without loss of dignity. That is "the rule" of law there. Even if you don't agree with her beliefs, to have her rights to them denied is as much a threat to you as it is to anyone else. A baseball cap and a yamaka may be the same thing to you, but it isn't to the hundreds of millions of Jews who practice the faith, and likewise a woman who practices the Muslim faith should not be denied to wear the scarf prescribed by her religion if she so chooses.
