So you create a site that, unlike youtube, is relatively free of pointless hatred and trolls. And on your beautiful site comes a few people, with a point of view that dissents from the community you have created. So you chase them out or forcefully banish them and now you have a group of people left over that are all smiley and similar.
Now in that group left over, though, there are a few that weren't as "against the grain" as the first excommunicated members, but that are too abrasive or conservative or liberal for the community's liking so they, too are taunted, ignored, or banished from the community. Now you have a core, like-minded group left over. But guess what, one day, somebody is going to disagree.
The question is, where do you stop? If it's just a dissenting point of view, ignore it or deal with it one on one. Use your words. If they resort to flagrant abuse then they've crossed the line themselves and you don't have to make an ethical/philosophical inquiry into whether or not you'll have to ban. They've done it for you.

Maddow is so in the tank for the Dems that it does almost seem like propaganda. And she can be very sarcastic and flippant - which I enjoy - but I can see how it would enrage people on the right.

I may have been a bit harsh in my email - because I've seen a few sprees over the years- but the crux of it is that once you put something out there it effects other people as well - hate to sound preachy - but our actions on here don't exist in a vacuum. Having said that, if you really think the submissions are shit - kill away. The community is made up of a glomming together of subjective opinions.

There were many submissions of my own that doesn't deserve to be in the sift. First of all, all the one in my personal queue (in a month, none of them come out, and, to be honest, they were all crap).
In other hand, many of my submission barely reach the sift. It's more like a pollution than a contribution. It's not because I like some kind of music that it deserve to be referenced by videosift. The first aim of this site, as i've understood when you created it years ago, is to find videos that are worth to be seen, as there's a lot of junk on the internet. But what i've been doing since i'm a member is just to post stuff I like. Subjectivity replaces my objectivity.
To sum up, this "kill spree" is more a clean-up i've always wanted to do about my own submission.
I hope you'll understand.
